PROTECTION LEAGUE. (By Telegraph.-Special CorrcsoondenU Auckland, February 22. With' regard to tho movements in Canterbnrv and Auckland towards the formation of a 1 farmers' party, the Dominion Secretary of the Farmers' Union states that the Central Executive knows nothing officially as yet regarding the agitation in Canterbury which has been carried on by members without consulting the union. It is. however, intended to consider the matter with n view to directins tho efforts of all those interested into a pToper channel. Mr. David .Tones, who has been apcoinred the Auckland representative of the Farmers' Political Protection League. has promised to wait 011 tho local executive at it* next meeting, in order to see whether a union can be effected. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.! Christchurch, February 22. Tile president oi the North 'Canterbury Incentive of the Farmers' Union reported at a meeting to-day that Air. D. Jones, the recently-appointed organiser of tho farmers' Political Protection League, would arrive on March 8. .Matters connected with the drawing up of the party's platform would be left over till his arrival.
