GENERAL FARMING NEWS.

A Canterbury paper states, that last week a straugo, thing n happened in connection with a small flock of lambs sent in to bo killed for freezing. ■ Thero were 159 of them in all, and while 69 were tent to tho Smithfield works, the remainng 78 were sent, to tho Pareora. works. Of thoso sent to Smithfield 13, were put aside as unsuitable for export, while out of those sent to Pareora not one was condemned. The owner at first thought there must have" been a mistake somewhere, as the lnmbs.wero all one lino; and'had -only-been- divided in a, haphazard way before killing- but a careful inspection showed that no. mistake had occurred, and tho -fact'that nil thoso^ which had a.touch of disease had gone to one place ■was accounted for through the«r lambs having lagged behind thoso which were beallhv and and .were- consequently all out of tho same truck.
