MOTORCAR OVERTURNS.
4 FIVE PERSONS INJURED. . (By Telegraph.—Press Association.! Palmerston North, February 21. A serious motor accident occurred at Taikitahuna this ovening. A party was driving along tho lovel road in a largo car. When trying to avoid an approaching Tehiclo tho car went on to tho grass at the sido of the road and overturned twice, the occupants falling out. Mr.Ryraonds fractured tho bono of his left forearm, and his right arm was badly lacerated. Miss Symonds fractured her right col-lar-bone. , Mr. Colin M'Kcuzie smashed his right shoulder. Mrs. M'Kcnzio fractured her right shoulder joint. Mr.. G. Kendall received a severe scalp wound, nnd is suffering from shock. Mr. Kendall was taken to his houso at Oroua Bridge. Tho French frigate Kersaint left Lyttelton this afternoon on her way to Noumea, Now Caledonia. Tho vessel 'will pass through Cook Strait and then head northwards for Noumea. She'will-pro-ceed under easy steam, using her sails when tho wind is favourable, and is expected- to be' eight or. nine days on the passage. Ucr officers and men expressed themselves as delighted with theircruiso round the New Zealand coast, and aro deeply grateful for the kindness and hospitality shown them at Auckland, Wellington, Port Chalmers, Akaroa, and Lyttelton. At a large meeting of tho Progressive Liberal League at Palmerston North Inst night it was unanimously resolved to ask Mr. Robert M'Nab to consent to becomo a candidate for the Palmerston North seat in the Liberal interest at the next general election, in viow of Mr. W. T. Wood's retirement in consequents of illhealth. A deputation later on waited on Mr. M'Nnb, who said the matter would receive his earnest consideration, but ho could not give hit immediate reply owjng to a similar requisition from nnother constituency to which ho had not definitely given an answer.
