Tho Von der Tann's speed of 27.4 knots was. it is said, merely tho avcrago speed attained, during six trips over a courM six miles long through water about 200 feet deep. .Details which have since reached the Admiralty show that the cruifer actually attained a maximum of 28.124 knots. From this, the deduction is drawn that the vessel in water 300 feet deep can regularly maintain 28 knots.
