On Saturday evening tho Manatvatu Savago Club entertained Mr. W.'Short, King's Trumpeter, at a social evening at the Mounted Itilles Orderly Hoom. The Toa (Mr. J. A. Nash) presided, and a very pleasant time was spent with music, song, niul story, tho guest of the'evening contributing several trumpet solos. .Mr. Short was presented by the Toa with a beautiful walking-stick, the head of which comprised many pieces of New Zealand woods, as u memento of his visit to the Dominion..
