William Smith, a teaman belonging to the steamer Sussex, pleaded guilty to wilfully damaging,- on February 18, an incandescent globe, valued at -45., the property of Ellon Witcombc. 110 was fined lOs. and ordered to pay is. in respect of ' the damago done, in default 48 hours' imprisonment. / OBSERVATION.AS TO SANITY. . Samuel Fabey Sunning appeared on remand on a charge of being! an (idle and disorderly person without lawful means of support. Station-Sergeant Darby stated that accused, who had been convicted on ,nino previous occasions, had been under observation by tho gaol surgeon, but tho latter was not prepared to certify that the man v was insane. A sentence of three months' imprisonment was imposed.. • IDLE AND DISORDERLY. George. Williams, on remand, was charg- • *d with being an idle and disorderly person with insufficient means of support. Station-Sergeant Darby stated that inquiries had been made with tho object of obtaining Williams employment, but so far without success. Sir.. For the first offence he was convicted and discharged; and for 'the second ho was fined 405., in default seven days' imprison- • , jnent. • William Black, on a charge of drunkenness, was fined.2os., in default seven days' imprisonment. A first-offending . inebriate, who had been sent to tho Wellington Hospital for treatment; was ordered to pay £i ss. Cd. medical and other'expenses, tho alternative being seven days' iu gaol. Another first offender,' who did not appear, was ordered.to forfeit his bail of 10s., or undergo 24 hours' imprisonment. Two other first offenders, who had been locked up sinco Saturday, were convicted and discharged. _ . For procuring liquor during tho currency, of a prohibition order, Mar) - Lee was fined. 205., and costs 75., in default levon days' imprisonment. A prohibition'order was issued against ,» James F.
