.Of 208,794 immigrants'arriving in' Canada during i.the fiscal. year ended March 31, -.1910, tnere were 124,319 males, -46,214 females, and 38,231.children. Nearly half tho arrivals came from. the United States. English immigrants numbered 10,417; Welsh, 723; Scottish, 14,708; and Irish, 3940. There were 734 immigrants, or, v.'ould-bo immigrants, deported. The i commissioner at-Winnipeg reports a strik- I ing improvement in the physique and general character-of immigrants to tho Western Provinces;- an increasing proportion of them ■ aro 'country-bred' ivith agricultural instincts and . inclinations, and the improvement -in ■ the" quality of Englishmen .'.arriving', is. particularly marked. •
