TO-DAY'S DINNER.

. (Spteiallr written for Tn* DOMINION.) MONDAY. Stewed kidneys. Potatoes. Cabbage, • Treaclo sponge. STEWED KIDNEYS. One pound of ox kidneys, two largo tomatoes, one small onion, salt and pepper, bacon. Soak the kidneys for half an hour in warm water, dry and cut into rather thick slices, removing nil tho coro; skin and slice the tomatoes; pilt into n saucepan, the bottom of which has been slightly buttered. Add tho onion, chopped very finely, and lay the kidneys on top ; r add popper and salt. Cover and cook about ono hour; thicken the gravy with a littlo cornflour if nccessary, and serve with fried bacon. TOR TO-MORROW. A GRACEFUL SUMMER FROCK,

Maud' Gardiner, eldest daughter of Captain Gardiner (Dominion Scouts), of 81 Pirio Street. The ceremony was performed by tho Rev. Father Hurley, S.M. The brido, who was nivou away by her father, woro a handsomo gown of white charmeuse satin with pearl and sequin, trimmings and tho customary veil and orange blossoms. She was attended by her sisters, tho Misses Eileen and Alice Gardiner, Miss Nellie Collerton (sister .'of the bridegroom), Miss Mackav, and little Miss Marjorio Morton; Tho bridesmaids wore white embroidered muslin with black hats trimmed with pink roses. Mr. P.-W. Gough acted as best man,.and the groomsmon • were Messrs. Fred Gardiner (brother of tho bride) and J. Price. After the ceremony ft reception was held by Captain'and Mrs. Gardiner at the Hotel Windsor, at which.some eighty guests were present. Mr. and Mrs. Collerton loft for the north'lit the afternoon. Amongst tho numerous wedding presents received were handsome tokens of esteem from' Mr. Collorton's colleagues in tho Defenco Department, as well. as from local football clubs with which the bridegroom has long been identified, Wedding at Rockville. . A very. pretty, wedding was celebrated last 'Wednesday at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. _T. Brewer, of Kockville, when Miss Louisa Florence Brewer was married to Mr. Sydney 11. Mason, of Wellington. Tho Iter. E. A. Parker performed, tho ceremony in tho presence of a large number of relatives and friends. Ttjo bride, who was given away by her father, 1 wore » handsome dress of ivory satin charmeuse trimmed with silk insertion and pearl passementerie and tho ' usual veil and orange blossoms. She carried u 'shower bouquet, of clematis and swoet i>eas. The two bridesmaids, Miss Sarah Brewer (sister of tho bride) and Miss May Mason (sister of tho bridegroom) both woro frocks of cream voile with whito hats and carried prettv shower bouquets; The bridegroom's brother,-Mr. R. L. Slason, acted as best man. Tho bride's gift was a gold pendant and to tho bridesmaids were given turquoise brooches,-the brideg'roim receiving a set of silver brushes. After tho ceremony a reception was held, and the usual, toasts were honoured. later in the day tho bride and bridegroom left for the north. -Their future home will be in Wairoa, Hawke's Bay. The bride's going-away,. frock was of blue satin cloth trimmed with cream ! silk and braid. With-it she woro a white crinoline straw hat, A Garden Party,, '. A most successful garden party and fete,, arranged by the stallholders of tho coming Northland bazaar, which Is to bo held in tho Town Hall at Easter, was held in tho grounds belonging to Mrs. Putnam, at I\ or till and. Tho garden had been decorated with bunting, and looked very gay and attractive, with the addition of tho prettily-decorated stalls placed in various suitablo spots on tho lawn. Several attractions had been provided, competitions and concerts held-nt intervals securim; a very large share of patrona"-;. Those who contributed towards the musical programmes were Mrs. Costello, Miss Scgrief, Miss Denhard, and the' Messrs. Hickmott, Saevers. Fielding, Macdonald, Cimino, and Smith. Master Fergus Peeves also contributed recitations. ' Tho two fortune-tollers had an exceedingly busy time, as indeed they always do. The produce, sweets, and flower 'tails were in tho charse of tho Miws Putnam; Mrs. 'Ross ann Mr«. MaeEwan had charge of the fancy stijll, and Mrs. Macnamara. with several assistants, was busy with tho tea kiosk. The Wellington Bowllno Club. Saturday being "open day" at tho Wellington Bowling Club, there was a largo gathering of members and friends, and a most enjoyable time was spent. Tea was served in the pavilion, tho table being decorated with coreopsis, while in tho centre stood tho beautiful silver cup, presented by Mr John Duthio and won a year ago in Wansanui by tho Wellington Bowling Club, Those helping with the

tea were.Mrs. K. K. Hamilton, Mrs. Knox Gilmer, Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Hcminfjton, anil Mrs. Derrv, and they were assisted bv the 'Missos O'Siilliran, Moult, Bnird, iiill, Kvans, aud Jlowat. Some of thoso present wero Mrs. J. Clark, Mrs. ' Sicvwright, Grundy, Bush, Pirie, and Mrs. Bean, who is at present visiting Wellington. The Y.W.C.A, ' Miss Stillwell, who is proceeding to Auckland to carry on important work in connection with tho Y.W.C.A.. cavo a very interesting address at tho Y.W.C.A.'s new rooms yesterday, a very large gathering of members being. present. Tho new secretary, Miss Wilson, whs introduced to tho members by Hiss M'Lean, and Mrs. M'Cla.v, the president of the association, niado a short speech. Tea was given by Sliss htfiple-ton-Cotton, Mrs. . Bulkley, Mrs. Shirtcliffe, and Mrs. do Castro," and altogether a most, pleasant afternoon was spent by the girls. There tfere also present several members of the committee. Mr. and Mrs. H. A. S. Cox (Melbourne) and Mrs. and Miss Knox (England) and Miss Von Arnheim aro visitors to Itotorua. "

Mrs, Stevenson has returned to Wellington from a visit to Mrs. Allport, at Stoke, and is again staying at Aorangi House. , Miss 13. Carter, who has been on the nursing staff of tho Masterton Hospital for some time, lias resigned, and will bo taking up nursing in Wellington. Mrs. N. Fowler, of HawkoVßoy, and her littlo daughter are staying at Mrs. Cox's (Muritai). Miss' Stretch, of Melbourne, is touring New Zealand, and is at present staying at "Balmoral." Miss Whitaker is leaving Wellington on Tuesday for Hawera, ana will probably bo away for a week. Miss Rose Jenkjrns left on Saturday for a' fortnight's visit to Picton. Calder is returning to Nelson on Tuesday, after a most enjoyable tour of the North Island. A cablegram from London, states that the engagements aro announced of Earl Hardwicke to Miss Nevill, a New Zealand hoiress, and of Captain Gilbert Hamilton, heir of Lord Claud Hamilton, to Miss Enid Elgar, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.
