"Fair" claimed 29.5 per cent (3905 , bales). Only 0.1 tier cent (12 bales) was a; graded'"superior, and 'thbse dozen bale's hi were shipped from I'ictoij, 2.75 per ceiit SJ (366 bales) was "fine." Of tho tjuantity bj shipped to Auckland 119 from Toxton, f, 157 from Wellington, and 68 from Pictn'n. Tho;'percentage of ."common" hemp was ci 4.15 (553 bales). Twenty-five bales (Fox- p ton 10 and Bluff 15), representing 0.2 per fl cent,' were rejected, and 23 bales all "crcd- la ited to Auckland-were condemned. . Tho greatest portion was sec- cc bnd grade. The returns contain tho fol- ol lowing information: First grade, 14(11 A' bales; second grade, 1939; third grado, la 884; condemned 101 bales. At Auckland £! 61 bales were' condemned, 16' were con- rj demned at Wellingt"ii, and'24;at Bluff, n Wellington sent away tho' biggest total fli with 1787 .bales, - and Foxton was next a with 956. These figures show that the Pi ports of tho Wellington, province froni J! which tow," is shipped, contributed over Jj three-fifths of tho quantity handled by ct the Department.' Wellington's total was ; made np as follows:—First grade, SB7 bales; second. 725; third, 159; and coil- - dem'ned 16.
