ON THE MOUNDS.

SPORT WITH THE RIFLE. AT TRENTHAM AND ELSEWHERE. A steady "right" wind, requiring from 15 to 18 degrees at the long ranges, prevailed at Trentham riflo range on Saturday afternoon, when most of the season's company and club competitions were brought to a conclusion. The shooting throughout was of a very high order. Sergeant Plimmer, of the Battery; scored a seven-shot possible (35) at 800 yards, while M'Kay, of the Civil Service Corps, was equally .successful at 800 yards. Sergeant Dodd, of the City Rifles, rattled on ■10 in a ten-shot match at 1000 yards. Details of the scores in the various matches are as follow:— HIGHLAND RIFLES. Saturday was the day of tho year with tho Highlanders, being the occasion, of tho last match for the championship belt, the MacDiariuid junior cup, and for No. 3 competition trophies. Sergeant Dobson won the company championship belt for the second time in succession; this is the second time this has occurred—Private S.. M'Lean winning it twice, in 1904-5 and 1905-6. Private F.
