NEW "R.L.S." LETTERS.
.. Somo time ago an announcement was mado in tlio press that Mr., now Sir, Sidney Colvin was preparing a now' edition of Robert Louis Stevenson's letters. Tlio other day a representative of "The' Daily News" saw Sir at his 'residence r.t the British Museum, when lie. amplified , tho biro statement referred to. -■; "It is quito true," ho said, "that I hava been onga'ged :'n preparing a new edition of Stevenson's letters; this new edition will bo published in tho spring —in May; I bolievo—and will he in four volumes ' similar in, sizo and general form to tho series of anthologies brought out by Mr. E. V. Lucas. The previous' volumes of ' Stevrinsoii's letters—tho Vailima Letters, issued- in 1895,- and Stevenson's, letters to his Family and' Friends-r-will be incorporated in the new edition," tho 1 letters appearing .in their proper ' chronological order." '" ' • It is to 'be wished (our representative adds) that tlio biography of Stevenson promised by Sir Sidney Colvin in. tho footnote to' the article ho contributed on Stovenson to tho Dictionarv of National Biography in 189b could bo announced as forthcoming. It is' curious, too, that so far no monograph on "R.L.S." has been, added to the English Men of Letters-Series. Sir Sidney is already responsible for two volume? in this "scries, ono, on Keats and or.o on Landor; why not a third on liis friend ?. . > ■'
