THE COMING EXHIBITION.

PROGRESS TO DATE. : A meeting of the Building, Lighting, rower, and Space Committee of the Provincial'industrial Association was held yesterday, Mr. T. Uallinger presiding ■ over: a full. attendance 'of members. . : ' ' A plan of the exhibition' buildings, prepared by tho president, was laid bctoro the meeting. It presented a provisional arrangement ol tho'blocks, in which space is to bp let. Amplo provision has been mado for avenues and. passages between tho various' stands. The plan will bo again submitted at an early meeting, and, when filially approved, will be lithographed and distributed for. tho convenience of applicants for space. Applications for space wero received from the 'Wellington Gas Company and tho City Electric Lighting Department. The Gas Company's, stand will probably comprise about S3O square feet of space, and that of tho department 530 square feet. The Gas Company's exhibit will include a drawing-room, kitchen, and bathroom, each provided with various gas fittings, and they have been granted permission to givo demonstrations in cooking. V ' An application was received from the secretary of the Wonderland Company for. tho right to run side-shows at tho exhibition. The matter'was held over in'tho ineantirao; pending a further apportionment of space. A number of letters'have • .been received by the secretary (Mr. H. F. Allen), asking whether home industries exhibits would bo admitted free. At yesterday's meeting of the committee it was decided that this concession shouiu be'made. .

The committee resolved to recommcnd the Industrial Association to offer a prizo of £3.35., open to any competitor, for a competitive design for an exhibition diploma, not to exceed .sixteen inches by twelve in ir.easurem.cnt.

Tho secretary is in. communication with the Public Works Department, Tourist. Department, Defence Department, and Agricultural Department. It is hoped that each will display exhibits.
