PROPOSED ALLOWANCE FOR CHAIB- ' •MAN., ' ' ' I ' " At next week's meeting of the .Welling- . " ton Harbour Board, Mr.'T. M. Wilford . intends to move:— . : " ,That in accordance with the. powers given to the board: under Sec- : : •- tioh 23 of The 'Harbours Amendment Act, 1910,'the-chairman of the , Wellington Harbour.Board'he granted an, allowance at the rate of .£2OO per . anntfm as from-January 1,1911. ■ • The above proposal is made possible,. by Clause 23 in the Harbours Amendment • • Act of last session, which reads:— - "(1) Notwithstanding anything in Section .40 of the principal Act, the • ' chairman may be paid such annual . allowance at a rate not: exceeding two • hundred pounds, the board from time to _ time determines.; > - (2) No " aUeration in the amount ■ shall take effect during -the term of oEco •of any chairman. / (3).
