MOTOR-CYCLE TRIALS
WELLINGTON TO WANGANUI.'. . A series..of motor-cyclo trials aro to be held on tho road between Wellington aird Wanganuf.on March. 10 and 11 next. Tho general reliability;test will, consist of a run to Wanganui, ' yia Shannon, I'alinwston North,. AwhhuH.'Feildiiig, 'Mafton,' aiid Turakina,' on tho first day (a clistanco of. ICO miles), and back' to Wellington, via Turakina, .Bulls, Palmerston North, and. Shannon (150' miles), on tho second day, during which run thera will bo a petrol consumption tost, a . hillclimbing competition, and a competition for tho Bidwill-B'arton Championship Cup. For tho benefit of. those interested tho following instructions havo been laid down:— Tho.competitors will be divided into,two classes, namely, light-weights, all motor cycles up to and including 2} h.p. and weighing not moro than 140:b., aud heavy-weights,-all' motor cycles over 21 h.p., tho results to bo worked o\it on tho abovo basis. Tho maximum timo allowed for tho light-weights to cover tho distanco on tho first day is 11J hours, an approximate average of It miles, per hour. Tho minimum timo i 9 eight hours, or twenty miles per hour. On tho second day tho maximum' time allowed is ten hours, minimum timo seven and a half hours. Speed same as first day. In tho heavy-weights tho maximum timo allowed is eight hours, an' approximate average of twenty miles per hour, tho minimum timo is six and a half hours or twentyfivo males per hour. Second day.— Maximum timo allowed seven hours, minimum time six hours. Speeds same as first day. All competitors must be on the mark by: Light-weights, 5.45 a.m.; heavyweights, 0.15 a.m. No dismounting for traffic or which in tho opinion of tho party was necessary to avoid accidents will be counted against competitors. Any competitor giving or accenting mechanical assistance or advice well bo rendered liiiblo to disqualification, but competitors aro requested to help one another with tiro troubles, no points being lost for these. On handing dn bicycles at controls they must not bo touched in any way until five minutes beforo starting again, and then only at a signal from tho official in charge. Petrol and oil tanks may bo filled at any time under supervision ,of an official or the members of tho team. Any adjustments or repairs must bo mado. alter tho word "go" has been given by the starter to that particular party.
