Tlio story is that n controversy on the Anglo-German question: ended in tho Briton casting a reflection on tho German Empire. Tho German sought to Satisfy his outraged honour by an appeal to arms. Ho challenged tho Australian, who accepted the challenge, though no swordsman. A full-dress meeting was arranged for a lonely snot'in Centennial Park. Four swords nnd two seconds were provided. Tho German drow first blood, wounding his opponent in the arm. The Australian, becoming hcatod, forgot the rules, wielded the blade with both hands, and succeeded in wounding tho German in the arm. . Honour being satisfied, tho combat ended. Names aro freely mentioned, but the Briton ridicules the story.
