Alexandra is shortly to possess a' Carnegie Library, for at last meeting of tho Borough Council a communication was (says tho local "Herald") received from Mr. Carnegie's private secretary that tho sum of J!800 was now available for tho erection of a library at Alexandra. .During a recent visit to Scotland Mr. W. Frasor sought an interview with Mr. Carnegie and requested a grant of ,£BOO towards building a library. The request met with tho sympathy of Mr. Carnegie, aud plans and specifications of the proposed building were duly forwarded •to Mr. Carnegie for approval. Messrs. Baldwin and Rayward, patent agents, Wellington, Toport tliat they have filed tho following applications for patents in New Zealand, during tho week ended February 11:— T.
