, (By TolcsraDh.-Spceial Correspondent.) Wanganui, February 14. Word has been received that Cabinet has authorised additions to tho local post ollico to-'copo with the rapidly-growing business. JNot long since tho Department purchased tho adjoining premises of the Bank of Australasia at a cost of .£13,000, and these will bo utilised for the work of the Savings Bank branch. Of'late work on the town wharf has been slack, arid the wharf labourers have, therefore, sought temporary employment elsewhere. This morning several steamers, wcro in port at once, but in consequence of the absence of men most of them were idle for the greater part of the day, and then were'only nblo to eccuro half shifts. They will not, however, be subject to very serious delay. Returns furnished to the Borough Council show that there are 2752 rateable buildings in the. borough, of which 2224 arc ; ocoupied dwellings. Another block of Native land, No, 4, Ohotu, B Block, of 3750 acres, will probably bo in the market before long. Thero are 400 owners concerned, and on account of this largo number tho matter of leasing the block is one of very great difficulty. Tho land, which is near Jlangawhero Falls, is said to be of very good quality. Tho owners are desirous of selling it by public auction, and are.applying! to the iloori Land Board for permission to sell the land in suitable areas in this manner. ■ • ■
