ENTERTAINMENTS.

THEATRE ROYAL. Frod Graham and Nellie Dent are keeping up their popularity at tho lheatre Royal, where this week they arc seen in a new one-act comedy entitled "The Power of the Idol." Tho piece, was specially written for Fred Graham, who' makes the most of the ample opportunities it gives him for displaying, his ability, and he is ably supported by Jliss Dent, llerr Theodore, equilibrist and juggler, with the assistance of a clo-wn, does a. host of interesting tricks with billiard balls, and ilamiug torches, while club-tossing between the pair is another featuro of"£he turn. Farrell and Gaffney, the three-legged dancers, again received a big reception at last night's performance, and tha Anderson Trio made and received hits in their burlesque Iwxing sketch. Miss Ruby Wallace, MissEllaine Verroll, and a number of other artists also figure on the programme, which Messrs. Fuller are staging this week.

KING'S THEATRE. There was a particularly large attendance at the King's Theatre last evening, tho occasion of the second production of the current week's programme. Without a doubt tho most interesting picture of the programme was that depicting the fight of the police with the anarchists and murderers at Houndsditch, London, some fe\v weeks ago, and there can be no better testimonial to the excellence of this film than the applause with which it was received last evening. Included among the dramatic studies are such excellent pictures as "The Arapahoes" and "A Plain Song." other pictures worthy of special mention are "Palmerston North Naval and Jfilitary Tournament" and "On the Banks of the Danube." HIS MAJESTY'S. The current week's programme at His Majesty's Theatre is uniformly good, and entertaining, and well up to the high standard generally maintained by .the management of this -.popular picturehouse. The sensation of the i programme is a film depicting the locating of the Houndfditch, London, "anarchists and the subsequent battle of Stepney. Another feature of the programme, is the excellence of the dramatic studies, this section including a well conceived and splendidly-acted story called "The Last of the Saxons." "Ranch Life- in the Great South-West" is\ a most interesting picture of tho every day life of , the Amercian cowboy. "Birds in Their Nests" is a beautifully-coloured study by the famed Pathe Freres. Tho programme also includes such star films as "Ave Maria," "The Gambler's Charm," and a comic study entitled "His New Lid." STAR PICTURES. There was another good attendance at St. Thomas's Hall, Newtown, last night to witness .the programme of moving pictures screened by the Star Pictures Proprietary. The films include some very fine items,, scenic, comic, and dramatic. The _ programme will be repeated this evening, and thero will bo a complete change to-morrow. BUFFALO BILL'S WILD WEST. One of the biggest picture firms tnow operating in Australia is-the firm of J. D. Williams, the Greater, Limited, which has opportunities enabling it to purchase and control some of the finest films in the world. The Messrs.'MacMahon have acquired the exclusive rights in Now Zealand of all the J. D. Williams's pictures, and can, therefore, present a picture-show of exceptional excel.lence.
