EXPENDITURE AUTHORISED. The_ decisions arrived at! by Cabinet yesterday comprise several matters of local interest, and it. will be seen from the details given below that several buildings for different purposes connected with the Government will be undertaken in tho city and suburbs before very long. The t erection ■ of new offices for the Stamp Department and tho Native De-. partment was decided on. These offices will front Sydney Street on a site below the Parliamentary lawn tennis oourts. A tender was accepted for the erection of a post office at Kilbirnie. , '
Plans and specifications were approved and tenders will be called for the erection of a St. Helens Hospital at Wellington South.
Tenders were also accepted for the erection of post officcs at. Runanga (State collieries), Amberley, Ciilverden, •. and Manaia; Supreme Court and Magistrate's Court buildings at Ma'stertou; station buildings at Kaiwaka, platelayers' cottage at Mirza (Bleuhcim-Waipawa, line), gatekeeper's cottage 'at Ngahere, bridges over the Brown Eiver and Rai River (between Blenheim and Nelson), combined road and railway bridge, over the Waikato River at .Huntly on concrete piles, bridge over the. OngarUe River, Otamatea Bridge . (North Auckland), training wall at ICaramea. A tender was accepted for a public clock and bells for the Westport Post Office.
Plans and specifications were approved and tenders will be called for the erection of- a post office at.Tolaga. Bay, a post office at Warkworth, a bridge over the Motu River (Gisborne district).
: Additions. to tho Wangimui Post Office wore approved of. Tho construction-of a-direct metallic oircuit between Wellington and, DannA virko was approved of. A grant,of iEHOO.for technical school Jniildings at Sydenham was.authorised. Tho erection of a new wing for the Auckland Gaol was authorised.
Plans and estimates were approved for tho construction of tho southern end of tho Bleilheim-Waipara railway. It was decided to erect a brjdge over the Upper Motn Eiver, at Moanui, and a bridge at Ngapipito. Plans and specifications were approved for a 'deviation of the Napier-Wairoa Road at the Tangoro Lagoon. Nino thousand pounds were authorised for. the formation and improvement of roads throughout the Dominion.,' ' Eighteen thousand five huifdrea' pounds' were authorised for railway construction;
