His name is now given at Antil Kitnla. Finally, an interpreter was found fiftyftvo .miles away, who interviewed the. man over the telephone. Kitala said the anchors refused to hold at Balla Balla, and tho captain put to Tho wind blow tho sail away, and the vessel began to roll. Then tho cargo shifted, and they lost control of the ship, wliicli drifted. Tho seas commenced breaking, over her, and she rolled moro and more. Tho crow tried to lower tho lifeboat; which had been neglected. The davits were rusted, and they were unnblo to shift tho boat. ' Tho barque* then turned turtle. Kitala, the third mate, and tho'cook were thrown clear. ' They saw the keel up abovo the water for a few minutes; the vessel, then $ank.\ Tho three lricn started swimming, and after throi hours a tremendous wave'overwhelmed Kitala's mates. Ho kept on, and reached.a coral reef after eight hours' swimming. Ho remained on the reef for two days and a half. Four boats passed beforo he attracted attention. Ho' had been without food, water, and sleep, and was completely exhausted. No traco has been found of the rest of tho crew'. ' * •
