f. DEATH OF STEPHEN HOODIE. By Telegraph—Press Aseocldtion-CoDrrleht Melbourre, February 11 An analysis revealed'no trace of poisoning in Stephen Moodie's tody, \h inquest liiti the circumstances surrounding tho death of Mrs. Moodic was opened on December 21 The decca c ed and two grownup daughters died in Noveinber after eating tinned meat. Mrs. Moodie's body ■ was subsequently exhumed, and an examination of the contents of I the stomach disclosed the nre once of I large quantities of arsenic! A surviving daughter, Qliyo Mbodie, was.subEcqucntly charged with' murder. Evidence' was given, to the effect that Olive Moodic on several occasions had purchased arsenic, avowedly to kill .'rats. Dr. Tucker, who had attended tho sisters, stated that Olive objected when ho proposed to send tho patients to the hospital He added that thero was no arsenic in the- prescriptions ho ordered. This Government Analjst deposed to finding considerable quantities of arsenic in tho intestines of Mrs Moodio' and her two daughters. Olive Moodio. was committed for trial on the charge of murdering hJr mother and 1;wo sisters. The coroner declared that it. was clear tho three women were poisoned, and that Olno Moodie constantly atterfd od them. Bail was allowed, tho amount being fixed at '.filMO. Tho pohco subsequently made inquiries regarding the diath of Stephen Moodie, the father of Olno Moodie He died rothcr suddenly four years ago.
