In connection with ,tho. sensation caused at the Liverpool-Assizes by remarks made by tho presiding - judge, Mr. Justice Grantham, of the King's Bench Division of tho High Court, who repudiated what 'ho. described as a charge of political partisanship, arising out of his decision in tho Yarmouth election petition"caso in 1906, it is' pointed out that tho only method of removing him from tho Bench would bo by petition by both Houses of Parliament. - Mr. Asquith, the Prime': Minister, stated in the House of Commons;that Sir William Grantham had signally violated the obligation of tho Bench to abstain from criticising Parliaments Ho had thereby created a unique situation. Tho Prime Minister asked for time to consider tho best course to adopt in tho matter. .'..:"■/
