Reforring to' tho cablegram from London stating.that Australia intended borrowing £27,000,000, Mr. Carmichacl, Assistant Minister to tho Treasurer, doclarcd that Now South Wales did not contemplate early borrowing in the London market. • Money was flowing freely into tho Treasury from local sources. Mr. - MacDoniioil, Chief' Secretary, holds a different view from the.t of Mr, Carmichael regarding finances. Ho' told a deputation that asked'for a country hospital that ,tho Government was feeling tho' financial pinch, and that inoro .money-would have to bo raised. Ho referred to taxation, such as stamp duties and charge's on tho transfers of cheques, remitted by tho previous Government, Which, did not anticipate losing a million v and a quarter annually in Customs and excise reVenue. • The present Government could do with that taxation. • ' .
