CHARGE OF ATTEMPTED MURDER.

'At Tc.Awaniutu George Washington Long was charged with tlic attempted murder of Thomas Higginson Bond, nt iWharepuhangn, on February 2. •'lt-wns reported that Bond, had sold Bis farm and had not been seen sinco BJednosday. Long was admitted to bail, •elf in £100 and two sureties of £50 each., It was alleged for the defene© that Bond seriously assaulted Long's wife, and that the snot was fired to intimidate Bond, and that if Long had wished ho could hare caused his shot to bo fatal.
