Kir Sydenham Clarko, Governor of Bombay, lias laid tho foundation of hydro-elcclrio works which will dam the valleys in flip Western Ghats. Dams, will be constructed 8900 feet in length, somo seventy feet high, whicli will create lakes covering 2251 acres; ami transmitting 40,000 horse-power to the Bombay cottoumills, a distanco of 43 miles.
