Lieut.-Colonel Birkenshaw, tho officer appointed to succeed Lieut.-Colonel Knight in charge of Salvation Army operations in the North Island of New Zealand, arrived by the Warrmoo yesterday, but was • not accompanied by Mrs. Birkenshaw. A great sufferer from rheumatism, which at present makes her ah invalid, Mrs. Birkenshaw intends to remain for tho next eight or niuo weeks in Melbourne.
