ARTS CLUB.
ANNUAL REPORT. Tho annual report of the Arts Club states that, tho present membership' is 242 (103 men and 139 womon). During the year six general and forty-two council meetings wero held, the attendance at tho latter being as follows:—Killick 41, Hackworth 38, Rayward 31, Dr. Hay 27, Loslio 18, Gore 15, Bastings 11, Welch 21, Porter (joined after sixth meeting) 22, anil the following (who joined beforo tho last fifteen meetings)—Levi 8, Campbell 4, Meek 11, Miss Lee.lo, Miss Richmond 5, and Mrs. M'Villy 10. Tho council recommends tho incoming council to popularise tho life class. With a view to providing further funds for tho library, Airs. Kernot, one of the Library Committee, has promised a donntion of J.'S upon condition that nine other membors give, a like amount. Tho annual exhibition of tho club will bo held at Macgrcgor Wright's gallery on ; April 22. A photographic committee has been set up, and is making arrangements for. an exhibition of members' works. With a view to the adoption of measures in connection with tree-planting and otherwise improving the civic scenery, a Beautifying . Committee has been appointed, which, having communicated with like committees existing in other centres, is in of useful information in regard to tho extent and method of theiv work. The committeo hopes, with the co-operation of tho council, to commenco at tho proper season extensive- operations in this direction. The excess of expenditure over income is -C 172 9s. lid., with a contingent liability of the guarantee to the-.Wellington Professional Orchestra of .£2O.
