THE DAVIS CUP. By Tolceraijb-Prcss Associatlon-CoDyrlght (Rec. February 8, 10.40 p.m.) Sydney, February 8. The secretary of the Australasian Tennis Association has received a cablegram from the president of the United States National Tennis Association challenging for the Davis Cup. No English challenge has yet been received, but entries do, not close till the first Monday in March. : In tho event of England not challenging the Americans will play the preliminary ties in Now Zealand. INTER-CLUB MATCHES. The fixtures for matches in the interclub matches nest Saturday are as follow:— Men's B Grade. Trinity v. Brougham Hill I, at Trinity Church; Brougham Hill II v. Victoria College 11, at Day's Bay, on courts 7 and 8; Lower Hutt v. Victoria College I, at Victoria College; Petone, a bye. Men's C Grade. Kilbirnio v. Khandallah, at Khandallah; Brougham Hill I v. Lower Hutt, nt Lower Hutt; Muritai v. Trinity, at Day's Bay, on court 5; Oriental v. St. John's, at St. John's; Victoria Collego v. Brougham Hillll, at Day's Bay, on court ip; Petone, a bye. Men's D Grade. Victoria College I v. Victoria Collego 11, at Victoria College; Johnsonville, v. Brougham Hill, at Brougham Hill; Trinity v. Oriental, at' Day's Bay, on court 9. Ladies' B Grade.
