Edward Branscombo,' tho' wbllfcnown entrepreneur, has arranged with SoUsa's band for a thirteen weeks' tour of Australia and New Zealand, opening at Hobart on May 13. ' : It was announced 'in The Dominion sonic months' ago'that Sousa's'Band was coming to Australasia, ..with Herr BetinO Schorek as manager (representing a powerful syndicate).. John Phillip Sousa's band,' whieh 'includes reeds and strings, is'said to be one of tho finest' in existence. Sousa was, born In Washington, United States'of America, in 1854, of Portuguese parents, and worked his way up from a restaurant musician to that of tho first bandmaster in the United States. Ho is also a clever composer, who has specialised in bright marches. Among theso are the "Liberty Bell," "Stars and Stripes," ."Washington Post," and "King Edward." The band has toured America, Canada, and Europe several times with the greatest success. ;
