Tho programme includes tho 410 yards championship, 220 yards breast stroko championship, 500 yards teams race, 50 yards (scratch race, <li,vine, polo championship heats, 100 handicap and 200 yards handicap. Followers of tho sport, taking tho form of thß_ men in tho light of tho first day's TAcinf, anticipate further records to-day. Amongst the competitors for tho breast : ettoke championship thero is Atkinson, of Canterbury, who broko tho record for tho raco last year, Special interest attaches to tho flying squadron race, in which tho fastest men in New Zealand ■will bo engaged. . Inquiry mado yesterday in regard to Tho suggestion put forward by a correspondent that tho 100 yards and mile record times jnado on Saturday would not to passed by tho New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association go to bear out tho •theory advanced, viz.,- that the starting' board was moro than three feet out cf water, tho maximum stipulated by tho championship rules. Notwithstanding tho alleged non-compliance with the championship rule, it is understood that tho Carnival Committee is making an eudoavour to liavo tho records recojniscd.
