EARL GREY'S ARCTIC TOUR.
» REMARKABLE TRIP THROUGH THE NORTHERN WILDS. Arrangements for n remarkable Arctic trip to bo undertaken next summer by Earl Grey, tlio Governor-General of Canada, are at present being made. The tour promises to be even more spectacular than Lord Grey's journey to Hudson Bay last summer. Starting from Edmonton, Alberta, in July, the Viceregal party will follow tlio course of tlio Mackenzie, the great river which flows from tho Great Slave Lake to tlio Arctic Ocean. At tho mouth of tlio Mackenzie thev will bo met by tho cruiser Rainbow, of tho Canadian Navy, which is now stationed as a training ship on tho I'acific coast. As in tho cafe of his trip to Hudson Bay Lord Grey will bo escorted by a detachment of the North-West' Mounted Police. It is estimated that it will not take more than throe weeks to make tho journov down tho Mackenzie. Tho trip by sea in tho Rainbow from the mouth of the Mackenzie to Victoria, British Columbia, will bo 1000 miles long. Spccial precautions will bo taken for the safety and comfort of the party, which will include ft number of scientists and British guests.
