YACHTING.

•. $ ' P.N.T.C. EVENTS. A bright sun and moderate southerly breezes gave yachtsmen the promise of a splendid afternoon's racing on Saturday, so that it was with desp disappointment tho decision of the committee, to postpone the Ocean Race was received. The report from the lightnousr-kcepeT at the Heads as to the sea running in the Straits, however, was too emphatic for the committee to act otherwise. Tho race for second and third-class yachts was started at three o'clock, the boats getting a good start. Most of them soon set thfir spinnakers, and the run to KoroICoro resulted in a good set-to between the Nanora and tho Lizzie, tho buoy being rounded by the Lizzie first, closely followed by the Nanoya, Pawene, and Terhuna. On tho beat to Falcon Shoal, the Lizzie worked the* Middle Harbour, the Nanoya and Tcrhuna worked down tho shore to Ngahaurangn, whilst tho E-a-wene made close to Somes Island, afterwards getting so far to leeward that she retired. Falcon Shoal buoy was rounded by the Lizzia well ahead of tho Nanoya, with the Terhuna apparently out of the race. A freshening breeze to tho finishing line somewhat altered matters, the line bdncr crossed by the Lizzie at Glir; 12uiin., Nanoya 6hr. 32min., and Terhuin 6hr. *13rain. The result was:—Terhuna (33min.), lj Lizzie (scr.), 2; 'Nanoya (12inm.),' 3; Bawere (i9min.), retired.
