WOODVILLE.
The business transacted at the last meeting of the County Council was of an ordinary nature. Tho only item discussed of special interest to tho ratepayers was the question of the new road to tho Bacon Company's works. Councillor Murray wanted the council to approach the Bacon Co. .with a view of asking lor one-third of tho costs, but was outvoted. The road will, therefore, bo made on the terms first agreed upon, viz., both Borough and Qounty Councils sharing the cost. The local Swimming Club has arranged for a carnival to' be held on February 13. Mr. Collis has presented a silver cup for (he winner of tho points prize. Councillor Redwood is mentioned as a likely candidate for tho Mayoral eeat The present Mayor, Mr. G. D. M'Kinnon, will be leaving the district at the end of his term of office.
