Tho Labour Conference had a stormy debate on a motion demanding that tho State Labour members should fall into line on the referenda or leave the movement. liventually the following amendment was carried:— ■ "That the Conference, having by an overwhelming majority decided to support the referenda, trusts to tho loyalty of the Labour party to respect tho decision of the Conference." Mr. Holman, Attorney-General, gave an assurance that the State Government would not oppose the wishes of tho Conference. At a meeting of the Opposition party it was resolved to opposo tho Federal referenda.
