CORONATION PROPOSAL. j The opportunity of .payiiig a compliment to her Majesty Queen Mary is placed in the power of . the women and girls of the Dominion who bear tho name of Mary, when it is proposed that they, contribute towards a gift to bo offered to tho Queen on tho Coronation Day. . All. ovei' the Empire, the idea has.been suggested, ajid it is one way "in which; women" can' 'show' that th'ey have'the'recognition of what our King and Queen stand for—not entirely the fact that they are King and Queen, but that they' represent in themselves the Empire to' which wo belong, and which wo so thoroughly believe in. There aro many in New Zealand who saw her Majesty when, as Princess of

On tho occasion of tho Coronation, it is proposed that tho Manes of the British Empire shall'offer aiigift to her Majesty,. either in tho.,-fori]i : of_a personal ornament, or in the form of a sum of money -to be placed- at-,the Queen s disposal. -As it is-intended to give all Maries who wislr to do so an oppoi'tunity to. join, the donations will bo limited from ono penny to one pound.. A list of all the contrihvtions will bo, kept,' hut not the amount given, by each. The gift will bo limited to those who bear the name of- Mary, -Maria, May, Marian,'or Marion. Collecting cards -for, the names .of; donors and tho amounts have now been issued, and can be obtained from the lion, secretaries, the Executive Committee, or tho county representatives. No stamped receipt will be' Bent, but the ladies ivlio issuo the collecting cards.will be responsible for seeing that tho donations are acknowledged, verbally, and the money transferred to tlie. bankers—Messrs.
