A UNIQUE SIGHT. Probably one of the largest icebergs seen during recent years was that, encountered from tho decks of Uie liner Oravia. assh'o passed the Falklands on her way to Liverpool. Tho scene was thus described by ono of tho ship's officers: "Tho night was cloudy. There v,-as a cutting wind, and the temperature of the sea was down to 33dcg. when the great iceberg came into view—a huge mass ,500 ft. hieh, partly covered, with. mist, a long, sholving shore of ice, with tho sea breaking upon it as npon a wide, desolate beaph'.. When , the moori appeared the sight was one , never to bo forgotten. Wo cazediipoii whit seemed to be a floating city of ico as large as Liverpool, with its towers, its-i temples, its tapering monuments aliootine up , in fantastic architecture, shimmering.-in the moonlight liko polished silver. It. is tho lot of few to sec such a sight." THE ARGENTINE MEAT TEADE. A BIG SCHEME. Chiefly owing to the active policy adopted by the Royal Mall Steam Pocket Co.. the numbers of stcamere engaged in the Argcntino meat-cari jing traue will wfwo very long be considerably increased. The' Eoyal Wail, by joint agreement with Messrs. Furnojc, Withy and Co., have given out contracts for the building of six large steamers for tho frozen meat trade between Argentine, London, and Euroncun ports. Souio time ago the Eoyal Mail arranged to build six naGNnßor liners to run between Liverpool and tho Argentine. All twelve vessels will form part of ono fsreat scheme, and tho expenditure involved will be over £1,5C0.CC0. . At present tho Eoyal Mail service is fortnightly, but about a. year hence there should bo a recular weekly service of big meat-carriers between Britain and the Argentine. It is understood that Liverpool will be the home port for tho paraenger liners, and London for tho frozen meat carriers. AEEIVAL OF THE AOEANGI. At 7.20 a.m. yesterday tho Union Company's JS.M.S.
