CRICKET EXPENSES.

Sir,—The two letters on the above subject, appearing in to-day's issue of your paper are jokes, or. else they have been written by nien with "bees in their bonnets," or," rather,. I should say, by a man with a bee iii his bonnet, because-if those two lotters are not the result of one mail's imagination, then I'm very much mistaken. As "Mr. A. Thomson" (God bless him) says: "This action holds the whole team-up to ridicule." The aforesaid "A. Thomson" also says a lot of other trash and nonsense, hut although Mr. "A. Thomson," aiid also Cricket," appear /to bo very indignant at such gross dishonesty on.the part of players in asking that their out-of-pocket expenses slipuld be paid by the association, the same as all such expenses are paid for all English, Australian, and South: African amateurs,' still there is more than indignation behind those two letters. I have no hesitation in saying this, and to show whaf'fiicts "Mister Thomson"and his friend "Cricket" have in this matter, I have much pleasure in contradicting them. I further. challenge each of them individually to prove that four men, or even two men, have put in claims for expenses (although the players were fully entitled to do so)' as stated in their letters. If they prove that their.statements are correct, I will pay .£lO into tho funds of the Cricket Association", but if they fail to support their statement? with facts, then each of them (or ho) shall pay £10 to the association. This will be putting the acid on and the true metal will soon be found.-I am, etc., BRASS.
