MIRAMAR AFFAIRS.
BOEOTJGH COUNCIL MEETING.
The Miramar Borough'Couhcil met last evening. ■ There were present: The. Mayor (Mr. J. Brddie), and Councillors Mleod, Bowie, Muir, Richards, and M'Clelland.; Replying to an application for tyro mini-mum-fare cars, one at 5.6 p.m. to' Seatoun and another at 5.26 p.m. to. Miramar, the City Tramways Engineer replied that the request would bo considered as soon as the lien- system of running workers cara came into force.' .' ■ .... v Councillor Bichards complained that Miramar and -Seatouu residents were crowded out of the cars at ' Courtenay Place by passengers travelling; only as far as Kilbirnie. The City Council was using the Miramar and Seatoun cars to maintain its service, to Kilbirnie. .... : It wks agreed that Mr..Cable should b? asked to meet the Tramway Committee to consider the question of minimum fares. At the instance of Councillor Muir, it was decided to nress on the notice oi' the City Tramway Department the necessity of having clear destination labels affixed to the cars. It was most unsatisfactory, the councillor contended,, that cars going only as far as the junction should be labelled "Afiraninr." '' > . The Defence Department wrote'refus-ing-the council permission to erect, two bathing shelters at Scorching Bay. The Mayor stated that the work of laying mains between the city boundary arid the reservoir would bo commenced next week. : ■ -
