CHARGES AGAINST HEADMASTER.
, INQUIRY IN CAMERA. (By TekErapU—Vress Association^ Dargaville, I'ebruary 1. An inquiry, in camera, was held at the District High School at Aratapu, to-day, regarding certain charges against the headmaster (Mr. Hockin), brought by-Mr. Grant, licensee of the Commercial Hotel, Stangawhare.-in connection with alleged irregularities in (ho conduct of scholarship examinations last September."'". The board of inquiry consisted of Messrs... J, K. Mulgan, Chief Inspector (president), Murrav and Wills (members of tho'Education'Board), and Sir E. 0. Gibbes (Secretary for Educatiou. Prior to the opening of the inquiry, Jlr. Mnlgan said they hud decided that the inquiry—tote- grave charges—must be private. " The press would be excluded, only thoso directly interested .being allowed to bSpresent; It is understood that allegations are made that Hockin's daughter saw thn papers before tho examination; also that cheating Look place, in the examination loom.
