AUSTRALIAN CABINET MINISTERS. The Hon. W. H. Hughes (AttorneyGeneral for tho Commonwealth) and Mr. E. L. Batchelor (Minister for the Interior) arrived in Wellington yesterday, morning by the Maori. The Attorney-Generals for New Zealand aud Australia conferred on tho question of defaulting husbands under the Destitute Persons Act. Until the amending Act of last session, the wife had to pay the cost of bringing a defaulting husband back to the Dominion. The same applied in regard to action in Australia. Now the obligation, is not upon tho wifo to bring the defaulter back, but upon tho Government. The informal conference between the two Attorney-Generals was in regard to. "reciprocity between tho two countries. The Australian Minister agreed to go fully into the matter. Dr. -l'indlay showed the visitors in the few hours, at their disposal before they left again by the North Island Main Trunk lor Auckland the sights of the city, and gave them 'a pleasant morning.
