Baker aud darken in connection wjtli the drowning fatality at Coogce.' Both already hold medals for life-saving. Mr. darken holds the New Zealand Humane, Society's silver medal,.and Mr. Baker is credited with at least a hundred rescues. Mr. Hugh Ward, besides heading tho fund with ',£SO, intends, to organise a monster athletic carnival.
