Referring to the telegram from Nelson on Wednesday concerning Junior National Scholarships,' the Marlborough Education Ofiice supplies the following particulars: —Of 26 focal candidates 1G were successful, which is a higher percentage _ than the average for Ihc Dominion. Nelson had 27 who qualified, instead of 41, if were in ratio to the number of pupils'on the rolls of the districts. Three of the 27 in Nelson wcro lower than the lowest in Marlborough. Nelson has four secondary institutions supplying candidates for this examination; Marlborough none. All who qualified in Marlborough did so for the first time.
