BAINESSE FIELDS ABLAZE.

WOOLSHED BURNT. (By Teleifraph—Special Correspondent.) Palmerston, January 30. During the past few-days grass tires have done a considerable amount of damage at Bainesse, in the Foxton district, and are still threatening further loss. The wcolshed on the Puketotara Block was burnt down, and one of the Settlers (Mr. Laylor), through whose property the fire spread, lost between 20 and 30 pigs. The exceptionally dry weather of the past two or three weeks has dried up a big- area of country between Bainesse and Kimatangi, and fears are entertained that this will also catch lire, in which Case extensive damage may be done.
