A fresh departure is'being made at Charleston, at ono time a mining town of-twelve thousand inhabitants, but now Tumbling Goldsmith's "Deserted VilIa S c '''. A movement, recently jnade to establish a dairy factory, eagerly taken up. A guarantee of 250 cows was required, but double that number has already been promised, and all legal guarantees .have been completed. The factory machinery, which it is understood is to be driven by water-power, is -to commence activo. operations in October. Meantime land is being eagerly taken up, and bush felled, and the district will no longer rely wholly on gold-seeking for its prosperity. ; ■ Throughout the Bnller district land is being rapidly taken up and cleared, and goldmming, coalmining, and timbermilling will be supplemented by farming as an industry. '
