Seddon, .at present Staffs Officer to the Adjutant and Quarter-master-General of the Forces, has beeaselected to proceed- to England for training. It may be explained, that the course . of instruction -provided/- at - the - Londoit'School.of Economicsis.especially designed.' to 'equip duly "qualified' officers of'-the' Army, and ' more particularly officers of "the Army' Service Corps, with a. knowledge of business method. , The Army Service Corps is concerned with questions of supplies and transport, and is an ad«. ministrative department, conducted on business lines.: It is, not "Considered that a civilian endowed, with conspicuous business capacity, and equippel with tha special training which a course at tha' School of Economics might be expected to aiford, could occupy a position ot reSpon-. sibility on the Army Service Corps as successfully as (other- things.being equal) a military officer. Officers of the_ ArmyService Corps are required to "go through the army mill" in the usual way, their capacity for duty in administrative positions, enhanced by a course at the School of Economics, being regarded as. a special qualification for employment in a special department of the army.
