Tole, of Auckland, was a passenger by the Maori from the south yesterday morning. / Mr. and Mrs. Louis Blundell, of Wellington, who have been on a - visit to' Japan, were among the passengers by the steamer Eastern, which lies stranded on the Salamander Bank at the entrance to Moreton Bay (near Brisbane). The passengers and their luggage have been transferred to port by a harbour steamer. Mr. D. Stewart, who has been in charge of tho Napier, branch of the Union Bank for some" time past, has been appointed acting-manager at Wellington, vice Mr. li. A.
