Thursday: We held .a special clearing sale of. dairy stock, etc., at Makotuku on account of Mr. Eric Ericksen, when we submitted 64 cows, 13 heifers, and 40 head of young cattle,. besides horses, drays, dogs, cans, etc. There was a. very large attendance of buyers from all parts of the district, and biddins throughout was ■ keen, and every lot offered : found a purchaser. account of the very dry season, the stock was not in very good condition, but notwithstanding this, and the fact that the milking season is almost over, prices ruled as high as £10 155., and the whole line of 64 cows made the satisfactory average of £5 13s. s 18-month' heifers sold at £4 Is.; weaner heifers, 325. 6d.; weaner .teers. 325.; bnlls, £3 7s. 6d. to £3 175.; trap horses, £10 to £19: mj-res and foale. £8 10s. to £11; hacks, £4 10s. to £8 155.; cattle dogs, £3 to £4 95.; porker pigs, JOs.; cans, harness, drays, etc.; at - satisfactory prices. . Owing to theory weather demand, was slow, and prices ;M round were easier except tor best rape lambs. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their fortnightly,.sale at Eketahuna yesterday. The • report states:— We had an. extra heavy yarding of sheep, chiefly ewes and lambs, but have to report a very dull sale. Bidding at. auc r tion dragged, throughout, and vendors In most cases had to lower their, reserves,, but we were successful in disposing of a number of lines privately before the day ended. Cattle.were yarded in fair numbers, but the quality was not up to-the usual standard, v :and ..consegueatly _ prices were not as' good, as at late sales. Urenui, oh Monday,- stock, came forward in excess of- advertised numbers, and practically everything was sold at the. hammer.
