The provision depot on St. Paul Island Js in a hut of rough stones with a thatched roof, and was stated by the "Nautical Almanac" to contain 13501b. of preserved beef in boxes of 91b., 11251b. of biscuits, ten woollen shirts, ten blankets, and one Eoldered metal box containing four packets of matches. The provisions and clothes were in thirteen iron-hooped barrels coated with tar and sand and placed under a tarpaulin. The depot was set tip and provisioned by tho French warship Eure in 1893.
