On Tuesday evening tho Petono branch of tho Church, of England Men's SocieN met in tho Young Men's room. An interesting paper on "Socialism from the standpoint of Christianity" was given bv the Rev. J! H. Sykes, of Upper Hutt Tho Rev. J. D. Russell opened the discussion, tho other speakers being Messrs. Fosters, Dee, Rogers, Frost, Morgan, Baxter, and M'Millen. The Rev. J. 11. Sykes subsequently replied and a hearty vote of thanks was accorded him.
