■ INQUIRY RE SCHOOL FIRE. (By' Tclcsraph.-Spccial Corrcenonfient.l Wangariui, January 25. As the residents of tho:suburbs which, lately joined the. borough, have apparently been under a considerable misapprehension as to their liability for existing borough loans, the Mayor has given notice to move.at next meeting of the Borough Council : v "That this council recognises that when tho suburbs joined the borough it was not intended they'should be charged'with any. portion of-the existing loans," and also that'tlio .future- renewal and consolidation of such loans shall be effected.without making tho suburbs liable for them." Tho local Inspector .of Factories has bsen lately giving attontion to the matters of shearers' accommodation;, and in consequence certain sheep farmers' who appeared before the magistrate this morning wero ordered to provido same at their places... It is understood .that, .several other cases aro pending. . - The coroner- sat till nearly midnight last evening conducting an inquiry into tho recent destruction by fire- of the District High School. Lengthy evidence was taken, which, however, threw very, little light on the affair, and tho jury re- - turned'a. verdict that they wero of opinion that the firo started. in the science room or room, adjoining, but how 'there was no evidence to show.
